The Museum, located in the historical center of Enna, near the Duomo, is located in a building of the thirteenth century on the ruins of a sixteenth century building of which you can still see traces in the environments of the ground floor. Home to archaeological finds dating back to the Copper Age, recovered from many archaeological sites in the areas of Calascibetta, Capodarso, Pergusa, Cozzo Matrice and Rossomanno. Explains the stages in prehistoric, classical and medieval archaeological sites are located in the province of Enna. The various collections come from excavations made by the Superintendency, by transfers from the Museums of Syracuse and Agrigento and acquisitions by private individuals. The arrangement of the museum follows the topographical criteria of districts and sites. Each room displays artifacts and, through teaching aids, shows the places of discovery and the story of the investigation.

The Museum displays the most important art collections in post-classical central Sicily. It also hosts the “Treasure of the Cathedral”, a rich collection of various pieces of fine jewelery handmade Sicilian, from the thirteenth to the nineteenth century. The masterpiece of the Treasury is the crown of Mary. Visitation. This is the biggest jewel Sicilian Baroque. The Alessi Museum also houses the collection of Giuseppe Alessi which is entitled, who left his posterity vases, paintings, various objects and books. Most notable is the wide section of Numismatics, which counts more than 4,000 Greek coins, minted Roman and Sicilian ancient city of Henna. The Art Gallery, finally, contains several paintings of value, including the Madonna with Child.
